Lately there has been an email dump going around. Many users are speculating that this email dump is a result of Rune Gear getting hacked. No, calm down. We have not been compromised, daily we run scans to monitor the files on Rune Gear. We have a strict firewall and bruteforce settings. We have not been penetrated.
The issue is with users posting their emails freely. When a user posts an email like this:
[email protected]
Spam bots and other crawlers can easy pick up the email and add it to the list. So the way to ensure your email doesn't get picked up by bots is to write it the following way:
Email_123[AT]email.com OR have an image of your email which you can use.
The email dump going around, once again, is not only from Rune Gear emails. It consists of multiple other RuneScape forums. I recommend users do not listen to rumors and allegations, and next time, simply question me through private messaging.
