Clearly, but the section as a whole should be locked from leechers.
After all, [hidden=POSTCOUNT]derp[/hidden] is pointless considering there's people that don't use it and 0 post count members are taking dumps away from other HQ users.

Putting a post count restriction on the section would increase activity and also make it fairer for members who do contribute a vast amount.

Interesting proposition, might test it out for 48 hours later and see it's impact.

Just trying to help :)

A week might be a more suitable time frame.
It would give you a much larger spread of results, making it easier to see it's impact.

48 hours is sufficient. I will only need to see it's impact on registrations. Extra registrations, working, less registrations, not working.

It's not about registrations, it's about getting people posting.

I suppose it is actually, but it's aimed more towards getting activity up.

More people registered = more potential posts

Just because they registered though doesn't mean they'll post. There's many that just register for the sake of bypassing the view thread limit.
My idea, however, is what motivates those members to post, increasing activity.

The problem with this is that we're trying to achieve something which:
Let's users (registered) and guests (non-registered) to view the forum, while limiting those guests to 5 threads globally (done), and 0 threads within that forum. Then those registered users need to view threads globally (done) while disallowing threads within that forum to not be viewed by them (not done). Once they reach 20 posts, they're upgraded to Registered+ (done already) which can see that content (not done).

At the moment there are 101 guests online, if you disabled guest viewing threads, then I'm sure most of those would sign up.

I agree with ping even if 1/4th of the guests register at least thats more posts
