I love how you guys whip up this whole worst case scenario. I will guarantee this won't change America in any major way.
Oh and you realize it WILL affect our allies too if we go into a "dictatorship".
Once again, Non-Americans just like to see America fail because they know America is better than them.
When it comes to the idea of
literally having your rights taken away from you, it's good practice to assume that the worst
can and
will happen. What governments around the world have in common is that they
cannot be trusted. I can see where you're coming from, there's probably not going to be a turn around from capitalism to communism in the U.S.A within the next decade. However, as more people begin to speak out on how corrupt the government is and how backroom deals led by major corporations continue to cripple the economy, the government will feel the need to do damage control.
If a bill is passed that can veto all of a citizen's rights and freedoms "if we [they] want it to", speaking out against the devious corrupt acts of the government could very easily be enough for them to "want" the bill to apply to said citizen. The next thing you know, life at Guantanamo! So much for caring about democracy in your country, traitor. You might as well have "DEATH TO AMERICA!" tattoo'd on your forehead.
We want to see you fail because you're "better" than us?
Oh, Chewy. You so funny.
As a Canadian, I want to see you succeed. If your country does well, we have nothing to worry about. When you guys f*ck up, we feel the shock wave of the repercussions.
However, I do not envy you in the least. Nice try though.
