Am i wasting my time?

Well, i thought i would try Bitcoin mining.

I am doing CPU mining & user BitMinter.

Am i wasting my time? or can i actually make money off this if i just leaving it running.

Cause i have been running it for around 4 hours & nothing has changed, but i dont know if my stats just take a while to update on there website.​

I honestly have no clue how to use BitCoin & it almost seemed pointless to me.
