About buying Gamertags (questions)

When you buy a new gamertag you like, do you change your old account's name to that (which would require the bought account's name to be changed as well)? Or just start playing on that one? I might be doing this soon but I don't want to lose my stats for the games I play, and all of my friends. Could I delete the bought account and then change my normal account to that name (saving $10 in MSP)? Thoughts?

Well you could do the way that you just said, but if it is a popular account then in that few minutes that the gamertag is free someone could take it. Your best option is to just use the new gamertag, and treat it as your main account.

Would you think deleting the account would work? And yeah there's always the risk some bloodshot-eyed kid is waiting until your tag is free. If none of these work I think I'll give the tag to a trusted friend in real life, have him change it and be on the phone so I absolutely get it.

I'll try it out on a crappy extra account that I have. And in the real thing I'll be very quick

Deleting your account isnt possible I think? Also, Dont tell anyone you are changing the gamertag and you should be fine. If you are buying a 100+ dollar gamertag I wouldn't risk it and start over. But if its not worth too much you can switch it. Chances are no one will pick it before you do. I hope I helped.
