AN ancient prediction that the world will end in 2012 was wrongly translated, an expert said yesterday.
The Mayan Doomsday Prophecy made December 21 next year the date of the apocalypse.

But now esteemed Mayan expert Sven Gronemeyer has revealed the world has nothing to worry about after all.

Tablet ... contained prophecy
The prophecy was found on a stone tablet thought to be 1,300 years old.
Mr Gronemeyer, a German who studies the central American civilisation at La Trobe University in Australia, says because the tablet was cracked the hieroglyphs were almost illegible and given the wrong meaning.

He says it merely predicts a Mayan god, Bolon Yokte, will return to Earth on that date.

And because he is the god of creation and war people must "prepare the ground" for his arrival.

He said there was nothing on the tablet to indicate the god will destroy the world. Mr Gronemeyer said: "That date is loaded with a symbolic value."

But crucially he added: "It is the passage of a god and not necessarily a great leap for humanity."

A 2009 blockbuster film, called 2012, used the Mayan prophecy to herald a global catastrophe.

So there is "no worlds end on 2012" its bogus like every prediction, only god knows the date.

It still doesn't mean its not going to end, It just means one person says its not. Although I haven't believed it since day one.

Yeah, People can only hope. That's all. I kinda wish things would change, But not be the end of the world. I don't think there should be laws, a president, taxes, Or any kind of higher up. And most of all I think money should be gone. I think everything should be traded, Or offered free. Like beans for rice. 3 chicken for a cow. Shit like that. I thin civilization was much better than. It might have been a little harder but much better I think. It my opinion though, and I know many people disagree, And I respect that.

I agree about the no money thing, president, and taxes, but there needs to be laws. If there was no laws, people would run around killing people, doing what ever they wanted, the world would be hell.

Not necessarily. People have there own morals. If you didn't get into trouble for murder would you murder someone? I highly doubt it. Because you have morals, And you know its wrong. When someone commits murder I highly doubt they think of the fact that they are risking going to prison for life. They are doing it because they think its right or something. I am no murderer so I don't know what they think so idk. I could be wrong. But that just seems like what it would be like. But yeah I kinda agree that should be rules. But not close to the current ones.
