Xbox 720 - Rumour Roundup


Theres a lot of talk about the new xbox recently, so id just like to sum up some of the rumours into a paragraph or two for you.

  • Rumours say that the Xbox 720 will hold AMD graphics similar to the Radeon HD 6670, which could suggest DirectX 11, 3D & 1080p.
  • The 360 didn't have any blu-ray player as Microsoft supported the HD-DVD which was later phased out due to Sony's Blu-Ray player which was shipped with all PS's. But the 720 could include a BR player to provide with demands in the market.
  • Some reports state that the Xbox will not allow games to be played on two different machines, which would spell the end of buying pre-owned or used games. Whether this would mean some sort of key code or detection software we don't know.
  • Microsoft's points system is so to be removed this console as gamers were complaining of having points that they couldn't spend on anything.

Let me know what your thoughts are.
 
if they make a new console sony or microsoft it will be 3rd gen and most probably the last of the consoles because with OnLive revolutionizing the market with there cloud based gaming system there will be no need for consoles such as Xbox and PS
 
no by the time the cloud based gaming the hole country should have fiberoptic broadband
 
My swedish buddy just upgraded to 1000Mbps, yes 3 zeros. Eqvialent to £30 a month
 
nice we did a thing in college this morning about video game addictions and it said south korea have some of the worst cases because 85% of the country has acces to high speed internet even on the move with mobile devises

Yer, id probably be gaming now if I had any net at all, ive bin uploading 5 small files to FTP for 15minutes now.
 
yer your just one of the unlucky few with no internet speed
 
Somehow i think if the "720" was released it'd look nothing like the picture presented just throwing that out there. I can only hope it comes with a Gcard similar to the 6670 since its powerful enough to play all current titles at 45+ fps ultra 2560x1600

The picture is just an artists impressions.
1600p, really :| Tbh, if it was I wouldnt buy it because most TVs are equal to or less than 1080 pixels in height and reducing the pixel size is bad.
Also that resolution isnt even true (16:9 or 4:3) o.0 So probably a bad rumour you have read

Just to top this all off, Microsoft Exec has said not to expect a new machine in 2012, but more like 2013-2015.
Something else I read is that they are looking for a CPU that will last the xbox around 6-7 years.
