Worst thing that's happened near you?

As I was reading about a tragedy my community wenth through in 2007, I thought about ya'll and if ya'll ever been through any tragedies as a community.

This is just the basic. short story of what my town went through.

I don't remember that in the news, but I hope you and your family is alright now!

Nothing bad has happened to that extent at all here in Maryland. Well, unless you're talking about Baltimore, where I can't keep track of all the murders on the news. I would have to say the worst that's happened where I live is a teenage girl was killed in a car accident a few years ago. Her brother is in my grade, and we're friends and all.

Oh wait. Last July, there was a shooting at a restaurant 5 minutes from where I live. One person was killed and another was injured. That was something you would never think would happen in the area where I live. There really is no crime or anything at all. It was pretty big in the local news for a few days.

Yeah, we had CNN vans all around. It's not something that happens around here in such a small community in northern wisconsin, especially from someone we all put our trust in, and someone who is suppose to protect citizens, not kill them.

most recent horrible thing that has happened near me would be Newtown, CT.

That's crazy. I can't really think of anything too crazy happening around here. I mean I could probably google it and find a few things. I live in Virginia.

Not exactly "near" me though. I'm like 20 minutes from North Carolina.

Damn that sucks...
Not sure of the worst in my area but my area is known for one of the worst in Melbourne.
 
I'm not sure, I don't remember nor can think of anything that has happened while I've been alive.
But if you want you can just read a little bit of Colombia's history from 1920 to ~1990

I suppose. Virginia Tech is over 4 hours away from me and Washing DC is a little less than that. That is with optimal traffic flow. =d
