Will you choose a fancy wedding over a house?

My fiance and I have a bit of a dilemma: Considering how much we both are earning, we can only afford either a small wedding or the down payment on a house we both really like. If you were in the same position, which would you go for and why?

it is more practical to choose the house.the wedding is just a ceremony.what matters is the marriage.maybe you can save up so that when you celebrate your 10th anniversary you can do your dream wedding.

you can have both if you really want to. you just have to wait and save more..

definitely not! i'd choose a house rather than a fancy wedding. a simple and meaningful wedding is enough for you to know and experience how its like to walk down the aisle. a house is where to will share and make memories to live for with the one you marry. lots of memories can be made in a house right? what will you do with a fancy wedding if you do not have a place to stay to after the wedding?

I think it would be wise to spend a bit fair of amount for your wedding and the rest is for the house. It does not really matter to me if I got a not so splendid and fancy wedding ceremony or event what is important is how solemn it is. If I need to spend something it should be wiser to spend it to something that I could use for the long run such as buying a house. It's a long term investment and asset.
