Why don't people do this(save Thousands)

Instead of buying a house they can't afford and getting a mortage, why don't they just live with their parents or family until they have enough money to buy a house. A mortage takes years to pay off which usually people pay double of what their house cost.
 
I live in Pakistan a muslim country and here we do the same. I am living with my parents and brothers, but I have this target in my mind to make my own home by gathering cash. As long as I collect some I will live with my parents
 
Well living with your family and your new whife isent a good ideea because there wil be conflicts betwen her and your parents and you will be in the midle.
 
Well, where i live u can stay whit your parents when u work... but every year u stay extra whit your parents u need to pay % from ur income...
And after 5/6 u really need to get a home of your own then.
 
They could leave their parents when they are financially independant but things can become worse afterwards if they don't use their money correctly. In this case, they would return to their parent's home if they are ready to accept him/her.
 
I guess you are from European country, that's why your talking about this thing. Well in most part of Asian country people usually don't leave their parents or say they don't buy a new house for themselves only. They all live in same house either if its big one or the smaller one.
 
Lol. For most people, getting enough money to buy a good house (~1M) will take a LONG time (A looooong time). It's way better to get a mortgage.

Why do you think everyone/most people get a mortgage? It's really helpful.

But, you know, if you're okay with living with your parents, that's fine. But I really don't wanna do that...
 


Gee a think you can get a good house for alot less then ~$1M but i know what you mean. i would rather have a huge pile of bills and mortgages any day then live with my parents, not sure abot you people but where i live you get made fun of if you live with your Mummy Haha
 
Me and my husband living in own apartment even without mortgage and we have some ancestral property at our native place..We like to save money and invest in real estate..
 
i think you are right......but in today's society people prefer separate life which they cannot get by staying with their parents.....so they do this....
 
we cannot judge them by their decisions but may they have also some reason why they need to do that instead of staying with other families
 
for me its ok if i will stay for my family's house or my in law's house as long as im on the right track lol.before we are living on our family's house but now that we have both work we build our own house...i also like we live separate to them so we can do what i ever i want.
 

I think before marrying and settling down, you need to be ready with your own house. In my own viewpoint, I would first buy a house of my own before marrying. I don't want to live with my parents together with my husband. I want to be independent from them and I don't want to cause them hassles and the like.
