Why do people think join dates matter?

For me nothing is more cringe worthy than seeing someone say the new members are bad and the old days where better.
Sure there may be some bad new members, but doesn't every year have them?
Join dates are nothing special, who cares if you joined in 2011, 2012, or any other year, it is just a date, and that is all it is, it doesn't make you special or more trustworthy, just shows when you joined.
I could care less if you joined today or years ago, as long as your respectful and legit, then I will respect you.

I completely agree with this statement, it's just like starting a new hobby or something, we all have to start from somewhere.
In some scenarios it turns out that the newer members are more mature and sensible than older members.

You shouldn't base a user off of their registration date. A user should be based off his: spelling and grammar, quality of posts, quality of threads, overall activity and simply how the person carries themselves in an online community.

I know 2011 members 10x more LQ then a December 2014 user. It does not matter when you signed up... Where people are finding relevance in that, is beyond me.

Yes, join date shouldn't matter, after all you have to start somewhere. Join date is just used by people that try to make theirself feel more superior by being on site longer than someone else.

Join date doesn't matter at all in my opinion, however I guess my opinion doesn't matter because I joined last month.

New members now Adays are mostly Multis/spammers. Sometimes you'll find new users that are chill. Older members that has done tons of deals are deemed to be trusted on this site. Like for instance, I would never deal anything big with a new member. A user that has gotten a good reputation on this forum (usually older members) is who I personally deal with.

New member join 1-2 months ago attempts to sell something and say, "I will not go first because I am trustworthy." Reason my signature is there because i saw sooooo many 2014 members do that. That is why join date is used as an attack because you guys tend to do that. Plus most of you are multis.

Like @trap stated. It is more about how you conduct yourself. I have noticed that most veteran members post with good grammar and just flat out state their opinions. Where as a shit ton of newer members just pretend to be nice to get more false reputation and improve their ego. Join date is more about seeing how everything works for a longer period of time. Meaning that most of the veterans have come to realize that all people do is rep4rep and that bullshit which has cased a thought process off all the newer members that they do the same thing. I personally thought the same thing that I couldn't be friends with them due to my join date but ended up being friends with loads of veteran members through just being respectful and using my head and talking to them the way they like, with good grammar and respect. For example, If you join in 2015 and post with integrity and respect without going around looking for reputation I'm sure the veterans members would respect that 2015 member more then a 2014 member that has 1000 rep and posts like an idiot. It's all simply how you conduct yourself around the forum, I don't even care for my join date as I have probably achieved more then loads off members who joined year(s) before me. Lot's of the veterans look professionalism and quality in members posts, and sadly a lot of our 2014 members don't provide that.

I fully agree with this! I joined in 2014. And  I just took it easy. I only posted on threads I knew stuff about and could maybe help with. I never even dared enter the appraisal section because I knew I didn't have anywhere near as much as experience needed to appraise items. I just sat back and chilled. When I saw something I was interested in I PM'd them did the deal and moved on. I've met some cool people by just dealing with them and talking for little after.
I've never had an altercation on this forum or fell out with anyone/insulted anyone. I've also never boasted or 'Flexed' about anything I own. It's just about how you act I guess
