i see at showoff a lot of people who say stuff like:Hack number when they actually phised or ratted the account.

Gained unauthorized access to somebodies rs account. "hacked" is the best and most common way to describe it

You're right, it is technically incorrect to claim you have 'hacked' an account if you obtain it via phishing etc. It is more appropriate to label it 'hijacking', as JaGeX themselves do.

But if you obtain it through RAT it is hacking o.o.

RATing, Keylogging, and Phishing aren't even close to hacking. The only hacking part is taking the stuff from the account.

Incorrect. Hacking, in way way to say it, is attempting to steal data. Rats, keyloggers, and phishers, are considered hacking because they are designed to steal data and/or damage another's computer.

If you want to go as literal as possible then it could be remotely similar, but real hackers just laugh at kids who do those methods. Any skiddy can spread their server or a website.

You are correct but,
In computer security and everyday language, a hacker is someone who breaks into computers and computer networks. Hackers may be motivated by a multitude of reasons, including profit, protest, or because of the challenge. - Wikipedia
People now think that Rats, Keyloggers and phishers is hacking. And it isn't, it is just using pre-built tools made by other people to steal data... You just call this people "script kiddies"

Today, mainstream usage of “hacker” mostly refers to computer criminals, due to the mass media usage of the word since the 1980s. This includes what hacker slang calls “script kiddies,” people breaking into computers using programs written by others, with very little knowledge about the way they work. - Wikipedia

So you can't call Rat'ting, Keylogging, or Phishing hacking.

Then what would you call those that designed the tools?

Developers

God I hate people that say this, we all know it takes no skill to spread rats and keyloggers, but how else would you really hack rs accounts then?

Phishing is a scam, RATing is a hack in which you can obtain any amount of information without them knowing.

Imo.

I think this could be considered "Cracking", the fact that is called hacking actually amuses me a little bit, but it's because script kiddies who want to brag says they "hack", which then made the word Cracking get replaced by hacking which made hacking a new word for cracking even though the meaning is extremely different.

its actually 99% SE part cause you try and convince the slave to fall into your pishing site, which just takes the login logs.
so the titles should be: SE nr 1...
