why are 3 char. worth more than 3 ltr.

i dont understand why people say 3 characters are more rare and valuable than a 3 letter it just doesnt make sense to me there are 17576 combinations for 3 letters and 33696 combinations for 3 characters someone help me

Wrong, here's a post I made on another thread that explains this.

In the alphabet there is 26 letters. Therefore a 3 letter has 26 x 26 x26 possible combinations for a total of 17576 combinations. A 3 character like NL8, has 26 letters for the first digit then 26 again for the second and then 10 for the final digit. So 26 x 26 x 10 = 6760 possible cobinations, or maybe it's a tag like H71 which is 26 x 10 x 10 = 2600 possible combinations (26 letters, 10 numbers, and 10 numbers).

3 Letter (HBA) = 26 x 26 x 26 = 17576 Possible Combinations
3 Character (NL8) = 26 x 26 x 10 = 6760 Possible Combinations
3 Character (H71) = 26 x 10 x 10 = 2600 Possible Combinations

TL;DR There's less numbers then letters therefore 3 characters should have the higher value on paper.

actually i messed up my math i did 26*36*36 but wouldnt it be 26*36*10 even its still only a little over 9000 its still less i didnt think of the 10 but 26*36*10 seems to be the right one not 26*10*10

I misread, he's right I apologise.

the first 26 are the letters the 36 are 10=26 getting a letter or a number and 10 is 0-9 the 36 makes sense to me

but to know all the the 3 chars the correct number would be 26*36*10=9360 not just n87 ones or nb7 ones all of them

I sold my three character for 20 bucks.. Did I get ripped off?

Not really, people prefer 3 Letters, therefore even though they are less rare they are more expensive.
