Who reads?

I'm stuck in a in-school room today and I have about 5 more hours of doing completely nothing so I have a book with me and I started it and I already am half way done with it. The book is - The Maze Runner.

I read a ton, believe it or not, I just got lost in books and I love them so much. I like twist endings, mysterious stories, action, and a ton more, its just my life is really crappy right now and I think when I read I lose myself and I get to experience someone else's life... I know it sounds weird but reading and listening to music are my two favorite things in life right now, they are the only two things that can save me from taking my own life, let alone live it.

I know this is sort of depressing but do you guys like to read?

As a matter of fact I do. If you want a good short story to keep you occupied you should check out "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream."

@Cicero to be quite honest, short stories make me puke. I like to read a story that will last me a few days that is a huge book that is full of endless possibilities. I feel as if short stories, by half way through you can guess whats going to happen because when your half way through a short story, you already get to the complex part of the short story and things begin to unravel. In a novel anything can change at any which way and the only way to guess whats going to happen is if your on the last few pages.

The thing I like about short stories is that they usually contain much less filler than a novel does. With a short story the author needs to put purpose and meaning into every aspect of the story if he wants it to be successful. Reading a short story is similar to eating Lucky Charms with only the marshmallows in the fact that you don't need to wade through the boring story or bland brown wheat bits to get to the part that's enjoyable. I enjoy novels as much as the next reader, but with recent time constraints and a lack of tolerance for bad writing I've slowly come to prefer short stories. Many of the greatest writers to ever live never wrote a single novel. it's ok but more than half of the book is just dialogue

I enjoy reading a good novel from time to time. I heard that The Maze Runner was actually pretty good. I might go ahead and give it a try.

the Maze Runner series is actually decent. Read it when it came out. It gets unusually strange though, so if you are the one to cringe, I wouldn't read it. For example, a liquid drops on one of the child's head and their head rolls off, clean (very descriptive though).

That's no problem for me. I really enjoying reading novels with unexpected twists and turns.
