White lies

How many of you lie to make your life seem more interesting or exciting than it really is? I'm not talking about tremendous and well-thoughout schemes but simply tiny white lies that won't hurt anyone. Things you tell your girlfriend and friends that happened at work or when you went out today to make it seem like your day was out of the ordinary.

I'm sure a lot of us do it without even realizing and I'd like to have everyone's take on this. Do you think forcing such types of lies are healthy, in the sense that we shouldn't be regretful of who we are and the lives we lead? One lie leads to another and the next thing we know, we're stuck trying to wiggle out of a fake situation we made for ourselves.

If you're someone that does this regularly, I think it would be a great lobby topic if I can get you all to post about lies you've committed to in the past or recently, just to help seem more interesting. I've done it a lot online and in real life and caught myself doing it a lot recently.

There's one lie that encompasses pretty much 90% of the users that post on Youtube. That would be "Hai gaiz i sm0ke pot all day evry dy im co0l".

As for me, I have to think about it.

And you couldn't think, then post?

What is it with all these users that would much rather have a billion posts than a couple meaningful ones? It's really irritating.

I can quite honestly say, I do not fall into this group.

I have always been one to be straight up about everything and not care what the other person thinks of me.

Now, don't get me wrong, I have lied in my life, and I will most likely lie again. But, I have never been so deep into my lies where it's now something I have to continue on with in order to keep a straight story.

Now, to your question.

Do I feel that this behavior is unhealthy? Yes.

You should be comfortable with who you are and not have to make yourself out to be something you are not for anyone.

I will discuss more on the subject when I get up, I just enjoyed this thread and had to post before I went sleep =).

I sometimes tell others lies without even noticing I did until I really think about it, I'm thinking thats a problem for me.

I sopose I do this, but it would be very very tiny.

I don't go out of my way to make stuff up, just if i forgot some of the details of what happened in the event

Doesn't it make you feel stupid?

These type of "small" lies can often often turn into you being totally embarrased if that lie gets caught out, say to your friends or gf, ey my dicks 9" long.

The day comes when your going to have sex, she expects a 9" then, before you know it she's laughing in your face, i just don't see the point in such a stupid small lie, that doesn't benefit you.

I see people make up little 'white lies' all the time and I just there thinking to myself, how cool do you think you are? It embarrasses me although I'm just sitting there listening.
Now, I've done it a few times. Well honestly I only remember doing a small one not too long ago. But it's very rare that I'd do something like that.

Many of the people that do it, do it to get attention and followers. I feel sorry for the people that believe the obvious lies that comes out of some peoples mouth.

White lies are not that easy to intercept. They're little things like 'Hey today at work, this lady came in yelling about some product we didn't sell.. Ya, she was nuts!'. Anything to make your dad seem more interesting compared to someone else's. They're not things that you can pick-up very easily.

Yea you're right, I got carried away with the thought. Was thinking more along the lines of people that make outrageous lies, I guess.

I generally only lie when it benefits a joke, something all people do when they try to make an effort into telling people jokes.
For example, a real life event will happen, and in my head i think of something funny that could have so easily happened in relate to the event, and I say that, nothing farfetched, just enough to get them to show some teeth.

I'm the joker of my group of friends so I'm with you on that one.

I do tend to do this quite a lot, I feel boring otherwise..

If i have a cut or a bruise on my face, I'll say i got hit, Really pathetic things like that, i don't know why i do it and i wish i didn't.

Little lies such as this portray (at least to me) a behavior of someone who seeks to be talked about the next day. I am not saying this is the case, but this is just the impression I got from personal experience of dealing with people like that.

It's not a huge problem, but you shouldn't have to lie in an attempt to make yourself seem more "interesting". Just be comfortable with who you are =)

You only live once, so make the most of it.

Lets just say this girl I recently met thinks I'm on parole for stabbing someone, a trained boxer, a cocaine addict. She's trying to save me....
Lies are the foundations of our relationships

No it doesn't, I suppose in writing it's hard to understand.

For instance, say your telling a joke and you forget a bit, what do you do?
Just say oh i forget and stop or try remember something very similar and say that..?
