I think C# is much better, because it's easier. But java is more flexible as you can release web applications all the user requires is Java and as for desktop apps the user needs to download the app. But lots of security issues arrise with java. So do some research mate.
I couldn't see where you got c# from the choices .. lol but you're correct.. java is flexible...
java is kinda heavy programming so it isn't for newbies to take as their first programming language..
