What's with the **?

I'm not exactly sure why people are hiding the tumblrs, twitters, facebooks, youtubes and stuff they own. If you own p*nk.tumblr.com (@Frost) why do you put the *** there instead of just saying p*nk.tumblr.com ??

Please explain with full detail.

It is so the sites don't track down the tags/handles etc that are being sold.

They search for stuff like this, so by starting out one/two of the letters, it erases the search criteria and allows tags to be sold/traded

Because selling URLS is against Tumblrs code of conduct and I star it out to decrease the risk of a ban.

Ohhhhhhhh OK. That makes a lot more since now. Because I was wondering, WTF would you hide something you are trying to sell. It's like putting a car in your garage, hidden to people, and you are trying to sell it. Makes much more since now. Thanks! Closing thread now.
