I'd use Cinema 4d to create the text and Photoshop to refine it. If I'm feeling adventurous/need to take it to the next level, I'll refine it even further in adobe after effects by animating it.

No, Cinema 4d is not your best bet. Make it with illustrator, and then you can export it to cinema 4d and make it 3d from there. Most of the time you want to start out with a 2d logo.
