Jealousy is a secondary emotion and typically refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, particularly in reference to a human connection. Jealousy often consists of a combination of presenting emotions such as anger, sadness, resentment and disgust. It is not to be confused with envy. (wiki.com)
Jealousy is like a tick that destroys the body of an animal. It is the usual cause of separation of couples.

What do you think are the causes of Jealousy and how can we prevent it?

for my own opinion jealousy arises because of lack of trust and not confident of themselves i think.so we can prevent it by opening the lines with your partner ,talked to your partner in a nice way that she/he is important to you and you love your partner and make your partner feel it that she/he special to you.

The main reason for your jealousý is the feeling of insecurity that arises in you in regard to your opponent or counterparts success. If you respect your frens, counter parts or those persons respect then i don't find the reason to be jealous at all :)

Two causes may provoke jealousy and insecurity in a relationship: either you don’t fully trust the other person to remain faithful, or you don’t feel completely loved and valued.
Try to spend more time together. And most importantly, always treat your partner with respect, honesty, appreciation, and openness. This will help set the tone of the relationship, prompting your partner to treat you just as well.
