What is it that always seems to bring us back to our vices? What is so unbearable about the world that we must lean on these oxymoronic crutches day in and day out? Some say it is to cope with horrible lives, but then why do some use them and some don’t? And what is it about some people that cause them to throw their crutches aside and rise up, through hard work, whereas some others are content in their poverty, and choose to rely on the few things which bring them happiness, generally harming the people around them, and themselves in the end?
What is it that brings even the most successful people down to the lowest depths of the human soul? Why is it that the same crutches are shared by the rich and the poor? How often do we see the rich and famous being arrested for drug use, and breaking the law? Why? When they have everything; why do they need these?
Why is it I can look on television (a technology which is being grossly misused, as is every invention) and see a man, with riches beyond that of which I dream, and we share everything, from the clothes on our backs, to our drinks of choice, but I don’t need a crutch to be happy, and he does?
What is it about human beings that make us so reliant? Why, for once, can we not take responsibility for our own destinies, for our own happiness, with the use of drugs, or alcohol, or any other crutches? Have we as humans become so weak that we can’t stand on our own two feet?
Look around at the gifts you have been given. Even a child born with mental retardation has a higher chance of survival than any wild animal. Think about that, and you’ll see what separates us. Any wild animal, if not born in relatively perfect physical condition will most likely die, to disease, or a predator.
So we as a race need to break through our lethargic urges, and use our great gift, the very thing which makes us human, our intelligence. So use it, for god’s sake, use it for once. Stop wasting your days away slowly letting your gift pass away, and thus securing your own name on the list of obscurities infinitely long which plague this universe with their indifference.
This will be my last post for tonight, and thus ends my spike in activity.
