What is true friendship?

Everyone has a number of acquaintances, but very few have true friends, for true intimate friendship is not common, and there are many people who seem to be incapable of it. For a friendship to be intimate and lasting, both friends must have some special qualities.

I feel there must be unselfish love between the friends. It is the very essence of true friendship. A selfish person is incapable of true friendship. Love and service must be mutual. Then only the friendship survives for a longer period. What do you think in this regard?

Same with you, I have many friends but I consider a few as true friends. True friendship for me is not measured by material things or by the happy moments you spend together rather during times when you need you need a shoulder to lean on and someone to hold on to. Someone who will lift you up when you are down, trust in you and stand by your side no matter what.

Friendship would claim that I love my friend as much as i love myself. I never reveal anythinf about ny friend that world harm her. There is no barter system for the friendship. There is no calculation hown much I get but I simply love and give even if that costs me. I may feel hurt or quarral with my friend but after the comes the dawn and the bright sun so too is my friendship - I do not keep any grudge.
