What do you make of this Libya crisis?

I don't really know what to make of this. I've not been studying the news really, so I'm pretty clueless to it. I know the leader is bad, and I know he's forcing himself into power and his armed forces are shooting protestors. Something like that. The US and the UK have got involved, I don't know who else, maybe the French (very shocked if they are, no offense).

Anyone want to inform me/post their opinion?

My opinion is that it should be between Libya and Libya, other countries have no right to interfere.

I can inform on the western politics.
The main point is that this match is 1v512632, the dictator is being a little bitch and basically exploiting his powers which isn't making the population very happy so they are began protesting for a new government. To which he's replying "fuck you, I'm the dictator, I make the rules, you can go fuck yourself". Now the civilians are using aggressive force to do as much damage to persuade the dictator to step down and allow a new set of government. About a month ago the UN came together and declared a "no-fly zone" for Egypt which means that the Egyptian government isn't allowed to use air forces to attack protesters. The dictator keeps repeating that he would resign and leave everybody alone if they would allow him and his family to leave the country peacefully and forget about the whole thing. America and the rest of the world is taking the stupid white man approach and is basically saying "fuck you mr.fuck-face, you need to die for your shit and stop attacking your own people". That is why, with the UN's move, countries are coming together and wasting tax dollars by sending air forces to take down Egyptian planes and protect the civilians. The shocking part is that two weeks ago there was a leak and a statement came out showing that USA already spent over 10 BILLION DOLLARS on warfare. They're sending like 50-100 missiles to Egypt that are costing 500k each. Also two weeks ago Canada (my country of residence) did a major press conference telling that they will join US and waste billions of dollars on worthless shit.
So in conclusion you can see that instead of sending relief money and help to the protectors, all the countries are just throwing money at war.

I don't really know the whole concept due to the fact that I'm not really keen on politics and news - although I do like to keep myself updated.
Despite the fact that their government might be slightly? corrupted - I don't see the need for the US and UK to intervene with the situation as it is just costing our country money and also people which may decrease the global economy rate.

So Hitler killing the German Jews is fine because it's German V German.
Because that's basically what it is, but there aren't any concentration camps there just being killed through fighting.

I suppose you have a valid point - and I don't really know what to say.
I guess that the Holocaust event was just in a bigger scale so it was a different situation.

First of all the government is not just "slightly" corrupt, when this whole thing started many people in state such as generals and other leaders left the government because they didn't accept the dictator's rules. As each one left they released a whole bunch of secret info, they basically did the "wiki leaks for Egypt". Documents concerning previous Egyptian war involvements, 'accidental' slaughterings, and other secrets that were supposed to be secret came out proving that the government has been lying and being very evil the past years.

The second part of your reply stated that you think this global aid system is "costing our country money and also people which may decrease the global economy rate." This statement justifies that you have very limited knowledge of the global market. Let's begin with war = money. When USA went to the middle east and spent over 10million dollars everyday keeping their troops held, cloths, armed America experienced one of it's greatest economic booms in the 50 years (trying not include the world wars ). When a government spends that much money on war it feeds the whole world. During the afgany war the price of oil droped because US was basically drinking all middle east oil. War is a beautiful thing, it puts the government in dept but it creates jobs, moves money around, and feeds everybody... except the war victims. So this mission in the middle east is actually improving the DOW, it's great for everybody except some Americans because they're starting to see their shitty dollar dissolve.

Yes.

The economy drops because the countries that are at war against each other, or the ones that are involved have to pay for supplies, equipment, transport and other things. Although you mentioned that a country may buy these kind of supplies off other countries, thus giving them more wealth and money, the country that is spending all that money is sooner or later gonna loose some economy.

It is not a balanced trade.

OP specified 'global economy' and during was 'global economy' only increases.

Whether the mild scale of global economy justifies going to war is a different matter, because I do think it is just "minor". I'm glad the US, UK and I swear France are involved because as capitalists I do think it's our duty to put things right. However, whether they're only getting involved with Libya because it has a lot less power than let's say North Korea (who are also under a dictator, and do horrible things..) is a different subject.

I've grown a lot of hate for this "dictator" of Libya over the few days I've got interested in this subject, so maybe my personal hate is making my bias but I'm all for this invasion. From what I see the war in Afghanistan is coming to a close? Once again my knowledge is rather limited in this subject as well, but from recent news reports it looks like the American/UK army are unionizing the Afghanistan army and slowly giving them control again. So hopefully lots of troops will be pulled back soon.

Yeah, the whole USA vs middle east war is officially over and the west is taking out its troop. What the media isn't telling anybody is that nations are still leaving its bases there and still keeping an 'eye' on the middle east nations ($$$).
This 'invasion' won't do anything in killing the dictator, it won't get rid of him. They should spend that money into hiring a good assassin but they won't do that because to the world this family is very valuable, so instead they're just wasting money to take down military planes. Even if somebody manages to kill the dictator he son will step in. The oil king son has the same ideologies, some say he has an even worse mindset. The only way to get rid of this family is to simply let them escape peacefully and forget about everything. The dictator is also surrounding himself with military women; these are 100% authentic virgins that are trained killers from birth:

EDIT: Here's a good article http://www.kawther.info/wpr/2011/02/19/libyan-dictator-promises-to-hunt-more-civilians

Wow that's fascinating. But the guy is paranoid. I really wish they did just hire an Assassin and get it over and done with.

They wouldn't even need an Assassin, just get a Military Marksman to shoot him. He doesn't hide much as all the pictures we have of him.

I lol'd when I heard the latest on this. He made a speech (the Libya dictator) and practically begged Obama to stop the bombing. He said he "hopes Obama wins the election in 2012" and basically ass licked America a whole bunch. Some idiots are like "aww, they should leave Libya now". But I loved America's reaction. Hilary Clinton "That's all fine, but we're not going until he steps down and leaves the country". First time I'll ever compliment Hilary Clinton .

But it's funny really, he's a one of a kind dictator. Now this is quite generalized but most dictators I've seen (Hitler, Mugabi etc) don't give a crap if their country is getting bombed, or if their civilians are dieing because of them. He seems to care (obviously for selfish reasons) but most are mentally disabled, and don't care if they die. They're stubborn, that's the word I'm looking for. No way am I saying "this one's a nicer one", he's a horrible man and deserves to die. But it's just different tactics to get out of the situation their in, it's fascinating. It won't work, but it's unique that's for sure.

"...he deserves to die..." I think that's a bit too far He's as human as you and me, maybe he's not so bad, maybe he's a teddy bear loving father who's going through a rough time. Maybe the media is simply portraying him to be evil while he's actually nice. Idk, I just know that you can say what you said, that's too far.

Too far? Are you serious? Since I've been interested in this reading the things he's done is horrific. He's slaughtering civilians because they are protesting against his government, which is as similar to Hitlers as any other. Just because America step in and help out, doesn't make him a victim what so ever. Sadam deserved to die, Osama deserves to die, Hitler deserved to die and so does this guy. Sorry, but I don't see how you can disagree.

Usually people with a lighter personality will see what actually is behind the person who is doing this. I understand where he's coming from. He's slaughtering lives, but if we kill him aren't we the same. Recent news is that Nato bombed a rebels base (the Force, Nato is working to help) so, if our army is causing more trouble for the Rebels, should we have helped them?
