Webmaster Section & Registering to Advertise

So, I think this needs to stop. A lot of people these days are registering at FK to Showcase, Advertise their forum. TBH, it makes us look Low Quality and needs to be put a limit.

Yes, there should be certain requirements for it. Either that only upgraded members can advertise in that section or that the user must have atleast 200 or more posts to be able to post in that section.

Also, the Webmaster section is being greatly neglected with reports and people have been posting rips of other forum themes and stuff like that. A lot of ban evaders have been advertising and asking their friends to help showcase their forum, still considering the fact that only the owners of the forum or a staff member should be allowed to advertise their forum.

Also, a lot of blackhat forums that have hacking or cracking sections are being advertised. FK's a Whitehat forum, why should it allow blackhat sites to be promoted it? That's my opinion on the whole Webmaster section and I'd like say, this needs to be looked into.

RE: Webmaser Section & Registering to Advertise

I agree with this. I feel it should require being upgraded to advertise your site. If you are really dedicated, the 20$~ is irrelevant.

Something certainly needs to be done about this. I think people should only be able to advertise if they get permission from the admins.

Maybe only Power or Power+ members should be allowed, or at the bare minimum, Onyx members.

Power or higher as a set standard would do and set this perfectly, I see too many sites from people with 1-4 posts that sign on just to see if someons replied to that thread.

It get's annoying after a while, so I support you on this.

Nope, I disagree with what you guys are commenting. 200 posts is far too many just to showcase a website, and why should someone have to purchase an upgrade to gain access to a section that should be public to everyone? That's basically paying for advertisement, and not even gaining much traffic (I've seen sites posted on there and end up dead within days).

A 50 post requirement would be simple and fair to everyone.

I would actually partially agree with you including on to my post, Power and 100+ posts. @Sanctuary . This is my opinion, please do not go on a rampage about it. I respect your opinion, respect mine as well. You should have a bit of time here before given these privileges.

Setting a post limit for anything always encourages low quality posting. Only allowing advertising rights to Power and Power+ members sounds ideal. Perhaps Supporter too because they pay a monthly fee.

I think that only Power+ members should have the ability to post threads in the Website Showcase forum.

I'm annoyed by all of the IcyForums advertising I've been seeing. It is everywhere.

I've already written up a proposal about forum advertising and will be talking to Philly and Narc about it later on this week.

I agree and disagree with a few of your statements.

So? Whats bad about it? Hasnt broken any rules unlike other forums that are advertised.

@Sector I would have to disagree. There isn't a rule against the amount of advertising.

Icy isn't taking anything from FK. Plus, Icy is being run by FK Staff, Ex Staff and myself. So, it isn't a problem.

@"Jimmy", I don't recall saying it was bad or breaking any rules. I'm just annoyed by seeing it. I can voice my opinion.

@"Beware", that is such a stupid and arrogant comment. Everyone knows I don't have that power.

@"Beats", you're disagreeing with my stating that it's annoying? I also never said there is a rule against the amount of advertising.

My, oh, my.

I wasn't trying to come off as mad or anything. Nor was I trying to upset you.

I was just voicing my opinion.

I totally agree with you on this.
Something needs to be done.
Maybe we should report the threads?

Dont report the threads, this suggestion has not been accepted yet (though it should) therefore it is not against the rules yet.

I agree with you. It looks bad to see new users advertising other forums, in general. I think it should be required to at least Onyx to promote another forum. If not that, I agree with a 50 post minimum requirement.

I'd still like to stress my opinion on this. This has been increasing a lot lately.
