Water Damage

I just dropped my iPod in a puddle when I was getting out of the car and now the speakers don't work because the water got into them. Is there a way to fix this, do I have to wait it out or have to go get it fixed.

Well, depending on the phone model (different crevices etc)
You can start by trying the ole rice technique, taking the phone apart and sticking in a bag of rice.
Let it sit there for a few hours. If this method doesn't work,
call the provider and ask for tier 3 tech support, let them know what happened and see if they're able to help you (free of charge)
If that still doesn't work, need to probably send it in /get it fixed / buy a new one :c
I'm sorry that happened op. sucks ;w;

Thank you and sorry I meant my iPod and its an iPod 5th gen and I wouldn't have 1 clue how to take it apart. Better get to youtube.

Some remedies might work.

Like:
1.) Placing it inside a container with rice. It has to be submerged in the rice. Let it sit in the rice for days.
2.) The hairdryer method. But that can melt your phone & it usually has to be done pretty soon after it's made contact with the water.

If you bought it within less then a year from today, Apple has a standard 1 year limited warranty but I think water damage is the only thing not covered.

Rice + Hairdryer on high for 10 minutes shooting the hot air directly into the charging port & the headphone jack will give you the best results. (If it works).

I'll try that now, it's only the speakers that don't work. I don't have a warranty anymore I got it like 2 years ago.

Oh, well fuck. That doesn't help then. Sorry. Wasn't sure which Gen it was or if you bought it recently. I hope you find a positive solution. My iPhone 5S got fucked up & a hairdryer saved my speakers. The text tones would not work & YouTube videos would not make sound but my ringtones would make sound. It was strange. But I fixed it with heat. Evaporated any small amounts of water left on the inside that was impairing my phone.

Thanks for the help, I'm currently blasting the bottom of the iPod with a hairdryer sitting in a container of rice

I'd say about 5 minutes (turn it off)
Give it a bit to cool down.
Do another 5 minutes (turn it off)
Lower the heat to something less hot.
Another 5 minutes (turn it off)
If that doesn't work, it might be unfixable.

If you do it for too long you'll melt the inside hardware & battery.

Ten minutes is up so I'll leave it for another 5 out of the rice? Then I'll put it back in for 5 then blow it with cool air for 5?

Yeah, try that. This isn't a fail safe method. But it might help. On top of the rice sucking out the remaining liquid. How long was the iPod water damaged before you started the heat / rice methods?

About 10 - 15 minutes because I only realized the sound didn't work after I finished eating KFC.

Well, then you were relatively quick to assess the problem. Hopefully something does the trick. There's probably more remedies then mine on Google. Wouldn't hurt to try 'em all! Water damage should be covered under Apple Care, 1yr Limited Warranty, Extended Warranty or an authorized retailer warranty - like Walmart. But it's not covered. I've never understood that. But since it's so old, that's void anyway.

I'd say the rice way. Its quite a good way. I once shat on my phone ( PM for story ) and I put it in rice. Some how it kinda took the smell away as well

Definitely PMing you about that haha!

I'm gonna leave it for another 5 minutes whilst I do the text then check if it works. Hopefully it does.
