Vouches and Rep

So, I'm recently getting an influx of requests related to vouches and rep. People send PM's asking to be Immortals just because they have a good amount of rep and vouches or because they have the trusted award or stuff like that.

I'll tell you what, it absolutely means nothing. Reputation and Vouches are number and are far away from the experience you've. Take the recent case @"Epidemic". He was trusted enough and repped & vouched highly.

See what he did?

In other words (if you're too dumb to understand): Do not judge a person by looking at his stats or just because he's active in the marketplace and has sold a lot of stuff.

I judge people by the interactions I've had with them.

If someone has 1500 rep but I've not talked to them? no deal.

but if someone has 10 rep but I know he's a good person (due to being longtime friends) I'll deal.

That's what most people need to understand.

The sad part is that newer members don't usually have enough knowledge about how flawed the Reputation system really is; and therefore base their Judgements on it more. If using a middleman was mandatory for on-site deals, or at least judgement based on the user, rather that just reputation was mandatory, we'd Have 50-75% less scams. I can't say 100% because we all know that there are still some people out there who'll scam simply because they're broken on the inside.
