Voice Chat on RS

I don't think anything will come of it.

Voice chat on RS would be stupid.

RS voice chat wouldn't work... There is a lot of things to do one more would cause a mess lol

I truly hope they don't put voice chat on RS for the sake of world 2 trading. And I highly doubt there would be enough bandwidth.

Put into perspective: The average voice quality on a Teamspeak 3 channel is between 5-7kbps (When someone talks, 5-7kbps is sent to the server. In turn that needs to be then sent on to all the users in the channel at 5-7kbps/user). Multiply that by 2000 (Full RS server), and thats 10Mbps (1.2MB/s) half-duplex (if my maths/logic is right).

Also, how would they calculate the distance in which the voice can be heard? Because I don't want to be in lumby and hear people in G.E.
 
This isn't halo, We don't want to hear 10 year olds screaming gimme money in there mics.

You're assuming already that everyone on RS has mics, and mics that work for one. And even then I think it'd be on a push-to-talk basis so mics aren't on 24/7. And you'd probably have to opt-in to voice chat by joining a voice chat room like a clan chat almost.
 
image broken but that would be sick if u can only talk to the people u want to talk with and not alot of people have mics but thats what skype for .
 
I'd like voice chat, but only with certain people. I don't want to hear 12 year old screaming shit like: Oh my gawd, I got hacked gimme money pleasssssssssssssssssssssssssee.
