Hey today I'm going to show you how to put passwords on your mac files. I don't care what you put in it, as long as it isn't me at the New Year's Eve party last year.

So first off go to Applications, then Utilities. It should look something like this:

Then open Disk Utility. Once your here you need to click New Image located at the top.

Once you click it you'll get a save as box with many options. Here are the options I use:

You can name it whatever and place it wherever. But it's important that its Encryption is either 128-bit or 256-bit.

The next part is very important

Once you get to here:

You must Uncheck "Remember password in my keychain." Otherwise you don't have to enter the password and defeats the purpose of everything.

So once you have the DMG you can open it, enter your password, then put your stash of whatever in it. Then when you're done looking at whatever you just eject the disk image, not the .dmg. [Don't worry the DMG won't get deleted.]

So there you have it, how to password protect files on a mac. If you have questions PM me or post here. Thanks for reading.

Nice tut

I could've used this if it worked on Windows when I had it...

I meant I could've used locking files when I used to use Windows, if there was a feature.

Instead this is a mac though

Gonna try it on my Linux; need to hide some stuff :roflmao:
