Often times if you sleep for very long periods of time like 12+ hours you'll eventually realize you're in a dream. You could try the WILD method as well.
I lucid dream a lot but I've never really have control over when it happens. I've noticed it happens to be a lot when I'm absolutely beat and am just about asleep when my head hits the pillow and I always wake up feeling on top of the world.
My first lucid dream (might sound weird) but i was playing Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and I did something in the game that I knew you couldn't actually do so then i realized I was lucid dreaming. At this point I began to fly around and such. What I did to achieve my first lucid dream was I set 3 alarms through out the night. People say you get your lucid dreams when you are extremely tired. So what these alarms did was I would wake up extremely tired and go back to sleep thinking I was going to have a lucid dream. It is very important to say to yourself that you know you are going to have a lucid dream and that you will have a lucid dream. It is also important to tell yourself what you will dream about that night and hopefully you will dream about it then realize you are in a dream then you can begin doing what ever you would like. But back to the alarm thing I did this for a couple days then I finally had my first lucid dream. I liked this method because I got a couple tries each night to see if I could get into one. I would recommend doing this for a week or so straight and I bet you will have a lucid dream within that first week.
be careful with lucid dreaming because controlling a dream isnt as good as you may think it is. I had 2 bad experciences with lucid dreaming and i wont be doing it again.
