Because it's jacked, there is no guarantee but as he said in the OP. The owner is quite inactive.
 
i would have waited till may 1st next year then renew it under new owner as thats when expires
then iam sure you would get more than 500 for it as iam sure once it expires the owner cant get it back.. dont know much about domain stuff...
