Thoughts on a GED?

Since I've been ill for the longest time, me and my mother discussed getting a GED. It's basically taking a test to graduate highschool, instead of going throughout the 4 years. I'm going to be taking it when i turn 16 or 17, and I'm 15.

Basically, my asthma makes it unable for me to go throughout the school day without feeling like i'm going to pass out. (A whole family of smokers doesn't help it.)

The GED will allow me to go to College earlier then I planned, then I'll be able to get a job also.

I just need thoughts or suggestions? I don't really know.

But won't the same thing happen in college..?

ahk fair enough then

If you can't finish High School, then go with a GED.

Get your GED. Then try to get into a community college. Education is the most important thing. It determines what kind of house you will have and what kind of car you will drive.

Thats 100% a total lie.

^ You don't have to have a 4.0 GPA to be successful in life.

I want you to do some studies. The stats will show that more people with education, have a higher income. Sure, there are SOME people who didn't go to college and may not even finished high school who are rich. The most likely case though, is that if you have a higher education, you will have a higher salary.

Edit: Also, I never said you have to have a 4.0. I've never had a 4.0 I can tell you this though. If I didn't go to college, then I wouldn't have the job I have now.

If you want to try not getting education, then do it. Come tell me in 10 years how far it's gotten you. I'll tell you how far my education has gotten me. Ready, set, GO!

So what you're saying is, If I get a GED, I won't be as financially safe as you?

No, I'm saying you're not as likely to get a good job. You can try to go out and find a job, other than places like k-mart, mcdonalds, or places like that and see if you can apply for a job without at least a GED. It's not that much work. Even community college isn't that hard. I just hope you will get your GED at least.

? I don't understand. Are you saying i'm going to be working in a k-mart? If i go to college and do good, my GED won't even matter anymore. Employers will look at my College reports.

You're highschool marks actually do matter in college/job. Take this GED and go to college.

I am going to college.. A GED is basically the same thing as a diploma, just a little bit easier to do (I think.) Also, when I do go to places for jobs and if they ask about, I can give them the Medical excuse that made me get taken our of school, in the first place.

Oh good, a kid with medical problems, let hire him!

That's how I see it .

...? I'm not going to College until I get better. Then I'll be well enough to get a job. The medical excuse is what I would say if someone asked why didn't i finish highschool? "During the time i was in highschool, I had some problems with my health." Something along those lines. I don't see how they can discriminate me for being sick during my highschool years.

Ah, I get it now lol. I thought this was a permanent thing.

Well my asthma has been bad since I was young, and the Doctors are saying if i take it easy for a while, it may get better. I also have to exercise/workout so i can like just get in shape.
