Really useful for runners:

Some research point to the timing of breathing as being related to the incidence of side stitches. Inhaling and exhaling with your running rhythm and foot falls may decrease side stitches. Try exhaling when your left foot hits the ground rather than the right foot.

I never got sore when running doing this
