Depending upon how public the tag is I would wait a month or two. Most faggots give up after then, don't make it public or tell anyone at all, just do it.
Don't open your mouth and tell ANYONE your tag. As long as you do that, you should be fine after a few weeks to a month. If you get greedy, you'll probably lose it.
