Well, after recently hitting level 99 in Magic, I thought I would write up a guide on how I did it so quickly!
This is the first guide I have ever written, so please give me any feedback! I enjoy writing guides, so tell me what you think and I will continue writing them.
As well, just let me know and I will add in all the math done to get the calculations (such as the runes/amounts of casts, time spent doing this, etc). Some people may want to know, so if enough of you do, I can put it all into a spoiler.
Why not a guide for levels 1-99?
Well, at first I was thinking about writing a guide for getting from level 1 to 99 in Magic, but then I thought about it...
Most people just get to 55 through training combat, teleporting or whatever other methods they have in order to get High Alchemy, then they just High Alch the rest of the way.
So instead, with this guide, you can use High Alchemy to reach level 80 and then fly through the rest of the way until 99 using my Stun-Alching guide!
Requirements
So as with mostly any guide, there are a few requirements for you to do this.
1. You must be a member.
2. You must have a good amount of money for runes (unless you want to Runecraft them)
3. You must be dedicated, but you can just bot it, as I know most of you are going to.
4. Of course, you must have level 80 Magic!
And that's about it!
How long does it take?
Alright, well you can average anywhere from 150k up to 180k EXP/h.
So, if we do the math at 170k EXP/h it will take:
Approximately 65 Hours.
That is not that long, especially if you're botting. Under 3 days to go from 80-99 Magic, which is over 11 million experience!
Runes
So before we can dive right into it, we must do some calculations to see how much it's going to cost you Stun-Alching from 80-99. Remember, the prices were used as of March 15th, 2011... so they may be different by the time you are reading this guide.
Total Runes needed:
Nature Runes: 71,280
Soul Runes: 71,280
Fire Runes: 356,400
Total Costs:
Nature Runes: 12,830,400
Soul Runes: 24,591,600
Fire Runes: 1,069,200
Total Cost of Runes: 38,491,200
Armour/Staff
Now that we have our runes, we need to get our armour in order for this to work.
In order for us to keep stunning the same enemy, we need the stun to "splash". Splashing is where you cast the spell on the enemy, but the spell just "splashes" on the enemy doing nothing but still rewarding you the experience.
Armour Setup:
Iron Full Helmet
Iron Platebody
Iron Platelegs
Iron Kiteshield
Any Dragon Vambraces
Mystic Mud Staff
Total cost: About 740k (The staff makes the whole costs)
As you can see, I have -65 Magic Bonus which is exactly what you want in order for this method to work!
Locations
Alright, so you've done enough reading by now... It's time to get to the locations where I recommend you do this!
Please use the spoilers to see the map locations of the areas!
Port Sarim Area (This is where I did it all!)
Inside of the building that I have marked out, there is a Black Knight in a jail cell. This place is VERY low populated and no one is ever there. I also use the Black Knight because he is the lowest NPC on the map, meaning people walking above there area will be less likely to see you.
I highly recommend this spot for botters =)
Edgeville Skeletons (over the ditch to the wilderness)
Now, I don't recommend botting here as there is usually a lot of people going through here and you may get reported. If you are doing it legit, then you can always use this spot!
Lesser Demon in Wizards Tower
This place is sometimes not crowded on some worlds, so you can always do it here! This is another "Legit" only spot as people may come here and report you... as well, they can easily kill the lesser demon.
Elemental Balance in your PoH
Now, I haven't experimented with these much, but you can stun-alch them.
You need level 37 Construction to build your first 1, then 57 for the next one and 77 for the last one.
I don't know if these stay out forever, or a certain amount of time, so I recommend you do this spot as legit as possible. If you plan on botting it, I recommend you babysit your bot.
These are just some of the spots I can recommend you do, but if you are going to do it anywhere, I recommend the first one in Port Sarim.
