Professor said:What law are you referring to? Specifically.
wash said:no you're pretty much correct. It's like castle law for outside your house.
Trap said:I'm not sure what you're typing on, but it was really hard to understand any of this. Not sure if you need help, if this an SOS of some sort, or if you're fine?
It just states you're allowed to put self-defense before retreat if you feel it will prevent death or harm. In other words, you can defend yourself. However, this does not apply to you if you are the aggressor. And here's the interesting part: a 3rd party is not granted this right, meaning if you see 2 people fighting, you're not protected if you choose to intervene because you're considered an aggressor/instigator if you cause harm to someone else. You can break them up, but if you push someone down or punch them or whatever, you could get in trouble.Hhuss said:Thats what its called stand your ground law lmao.
And 4 every1 asking its jus for school lmfao

I'd add that it's circumstantial. You may have the right to use a deadly weapon if you feel threatened, but you'd need to prove what the threats were. I'm also pretty sure that you can only use a deadly weapon if you feel like your life is in immediate danger. You can't shoot someone because they told their friend they want to beat you up. That won't fly.
Hhuss said:Ok do u think this law should be changed? lmao..
Professor said:No, I like it. It allows people to protect themselves. In a perfect world, the police are always around and can protect us at all times. Too bad it's not a perfect world and it often takes 30+ minutes for the police to respond to a call. Emergencies are emergencies because they are what we never see coming. People need to be able to protect themselves when the time comes.
By the way, I'm a Pre Law student so feel free to ask for help with anything.
I'm also stating this from what I know about it based off brief research. I haven't looked into it too much.
Hhuss said:Ok thanks for ur input. So can you tell me a law that you think needs to be changed and why?
Well, now that makes a little bit more sense. You're probably reaching your deadline soon then?Hhuss said:(Snip)
Just an assignment for school that im gunna need to present in front of the class thats why i needed answers within an hour broD.
Professor said:The religious freedom law that Indiana just passed. It allows discrimination against gay couples based on religion. It's supposed to protect people from having to serve others when it would go against their religion, aka they can refuse gays.
There's sooooo much controversy over this law haha.
