Should I stay or should I go now?

Jesus I haven't been on the computer in a solid six months. Anyways, I have a great question for you guys. I am stuck between two rocks and I need some advice.

I live in a smaller city in Canada near the border, Niagara Falls if you will. Anyways, I never really had a great childhood moving around constantly so that made it really had to develop friendships. I recently moved to Niagara Falls in 2011 after moving around between Hamilton Ontario, Calgary Alberta and up in Banff Alberta.

I started to develop friendships with my now five best friends. They are pretty much family to me considering my father isn't much along with my step-mom and my real mother is out in Edmonton Alberta with my step-dad whom are absolutely great(I'll get to this again later.) These guys are great and I ended up moving into a three bedroom apartment with them as a roommate. All went well for five months until we had some problems with our landlord (not our fault, more of a slumlord.) We ended up moving out on Feb 1 after seven months and I am now back living at home. I had worked for their grandpa with them managing the warehouse dealing with water tanks, acs, furnaces and all that fun shit until I had stopped working without reason or call. They don't know anything either.

I am now stuck at home with a grade 11 education (which they won't accept me late in the semester which I now have to wait until September,) no job and no money. I have just gotten out of a relationship a couple days ago also.

After all of the years of being a "loner" and not having many friends these people that I know mean a lot more to me than most things. Seems stupid, try to understand.

Other side:
Edmonton Alberta. There's so many jobs available and I have my mother and step-dad there who are well of on their own and are established unlike my current household with a non-working father or step-mom. They have a big house with an en suite available for free for me until I find a job and finish my high school education.

Do I leave? Sell everything I own to get a plane ticket and some start-up money? Finish high school there? Change and leave everything that I currently know for better or worse?

or do I stay? Get a shitty minimum part-time job in the city of no jobs w/ 75,000 people, wait 'till September and finish my high school education? Tough it out and move on?

All I have is $682 cash. What do I do?
 
Honestly, go back to Edmonton. At least you'll have some sort of financial support, for the time-being. You can always go back to your friends later on. I doubt that they're going anywhere. Finishing your high school education along with a rent-free home seems like the better bet.
 

I agree with Sector on this one. Definitely work on your education because that is the most important thing that will carry you forward man. Don't worry about anyone else trying to get in the way and just focus on yourself. I learned this the hard way through parents' divorce and such. Life was never meant to be easy, otherwise it was never meant to be lived at all.
 

That last line was damn good. I'll give you that. I would also like to add that where I am now I'm not currently paying rent, groceries or anything else. It's just the quality of life.

It's the same situation for me bud, I live under another persons' roof with my father and that means that I have to obey the rules and boundaries, the two most hardest things that I have trouble dealing with the most with people. I am a firm believer that rules were always meant to be broken, though you don't necessarily have to break them at all. But keeping your chin up and just sounding out the bullshit will eventually get you by. That's what I do: just let the bullshit in one ear and out the other. Get your education, and then once you have that, move forward. Remember, once you hit the bottom, there is nowhere else to go but up. You're lucky you don't have to pay bills. I pay for insurance, toiletries, phone bill, gas, some food, pretty much everything but rent, utilities, groceries (for the whole family, not just myself). So look at it from a standpoint that you are pretty lucky with what you have. Just look forward and always remember Ferris Bueller's famous words: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it".
 
And if I do end up going back to Edmonton for the better, when is the best time? Do I continue to wait or drop everything tomorrow?

I mean, if it's better to move, then move. I would do that if I were you man.

I don't want to dictate your actions, which is why I didn't say either one. What I am trying to get at is do what makes you happy or do what you think is right.

I appreciate your views either way, having a non-biased opinion really opens my eyes. I definitely know which is better and that's Edmonton. Finish my high school education in peace. Get a full time job easily, and apply for my electrical engineering course without worry. I'm a lot brighter than someone with an eleventh grade education and I know that.

I'm sure not if you can really relate to this, but there's a feeling that comes with having no friends. It's terrible and for some reason even at 18 and experiencing a lot of shit, I'm still afraid of that feeling. That's what's keeping me here, I'm avoiding that feeling.
 
I am going to be 20 years old next month, and I don't have friends neither. I am literally in the same spot as you. I moved from a toxic environment which is why I told you to move finally.

Get that education. No matter what. Move forward with that.

Live with people who will support you. Family support is the biggest, you don't need friends for that. I wish I just had friends just to kill the extra time I am alone, but I just fill the gaps with other things like school work, and a job.

You'll make it, because I have done it and am still going through the kinks.

Just a little update:

I talked to my stepmom's brother and I have a job with a construction company digging or with my stepsister's friend doing a co-op in electrical. I have an appointment with my principal in two days to see if I can go back to school in co-op in electrical. I still have the option of moving to Edmonton and having a bigger choice of trade schools (NAIT & SAIT)
 

That's good news man! So what are you currently thinking about doing?
