Replica Computer Setup

Would it be possible to replicate an exact computer setup down to the desktop icons and taskbar icons and everything on a different computer? How much trouble would it be to do so?

Will basically let you make a complete clone of one computer and hopefully restore it onto the other. If that is what you are talking about.

If you already have the OS (Windows) installed; you could be able to just use the built in file transfer wizard.

If you're on Windows 7, it's called Windows Easy Transfer.

You can always swap hard drive.

Pretty much what Inxy said. Clonezillia is nice if you know how to use it. Although it's pretty hands on, noob friendly. I personally would just swap harddrives in your situation.

The reason for me asking is that I would be selling my laptop and getting a new one, so I would have to include the HD.

Then I would suggest not using clonezilla, as i believe modifying the drive partitions would void the warranty (correct me if im wrong)

Just use the file transfer wizard or possible a 3rd party files/settings transfer wizard.
