I know what you mean on the brightness. I used to use lighten a whole lot, which washed out my sigs often, but after getting called out a few times, I decided to stray away from lighten and change up my style.

I;m not a graphic designer at all, but they look a bit 'washed' too me?
 
You have a great style and some great work, but as mentioned they are all too bright, which subsequently makes them look flat, if you could lower the brightness and up the contrast, I think it would improve you work a lot. I love the use of text throughout too.
