I recently obtained a psn later finding out it is VERY active. He sent me a message later saying that if i dont give back his account he will file a lawsuit and or file a police report. Kinda worried guys aha. What should i do? Can the police do anything?

Depends on whether he can prove that it is his account.
That said, depending on where he is he would have to file the claim and they would need to contact the relevant constabulary for your area.
Most of the time it's complete bollocks, so I wouldn't be too worried.
Just be careful not to fill out the account with your personal info.

but, regardless, there is nothing he can do aside from maybe pull your ip and rape your family.
I'm not an expert on psn, but I'd assume he could get the psn banned somehow, if worse came to it.

lol I'm actually in the process of becoming a police officer in my town. No the police can't and won't do anything about it. They deal with local crimes that take place for the town they work for. Law enforcement agencies won't even bother to deal with that. When it comes to a 'lawsuit' I highly doubt he would do that because he would need a couple thousand dollars to get a lawyer haha. Don't worry about it. However, since it is his account and you are on it, it's considered stolen and you need to give it back. Its like buying a stolen car but you didnt know it. By law, the vehicle has to be repossessed and returned to the rightful owner and if you bought it then you don't get a refund. I would know because I actually purchased a stolen vehicle once and it was a headache.
@Random , are you kidding? 95% of the shit sold here was jacked at some point. OP: If the owner is dumb enough to waste his/her time messaging you, rather than just pulling it back, you don't have much to worry about. They'll get it back if they use their head.
