How long should it take when you change a gamertag for it to be used with another account?

If it's turboed, you're fucked. I swapped my tag onto a main the other day and it wasn't available on my xbox or xbox.com but it was available on my cousin's xbox so he recovered it and changed it for me. My tag was available for like 10 minutes haha.

You can claim it on another can instantly most of the time. Sometimes the gamertag goes into something called "Limbo" which it can not be claimed for a small amount of time. (No longer than 10 minutes)

I'm pretty sure it's been about 20 mins and I still can't claim it. Any other possible explanations?
 
@ovoxo my tag is pretty low key but OP, get a trusted friend to recover your account claim it for you. Also, if the tag had a spaced version you're fucked.

It might be cap fucked try making it all lowercase or uppercase.
 
If its the tag you recently were selling I'm assuming you are screwed just added it and its sitting on the dashboard fresh silver.

Whatever you do. Do not fucking swap that tag you were selling. There are several turbos on it. Trust me
