No, the goldsmith gauntlets effect wont work on the double exp weekend, so really i would be getting around the same exp. And i'm using the double exp weekend for herblore + farming prob. Or prayer, haven't decided.
EDIT: it comes out to around 20k more exp /hr which isn't too much.
