An 8 year old Pitbull saved an Officer's mother from an oncoming train. Christine Spain, apparently fell unconscious onto train tracks in Shirley last Wednesday.

An engineer of a westward-bound freight train saw a dog pulling a woman away from the tracks shortly after midnight. The engineer tried to stop, but couldn’t avoid hitting the 8-year-old dog.

The train’s wheels sliced through Lilly’s right foot, fractured her pelvis in and caused other internal injuries.

When help arrived, Lilly was covered in blood but still standing guard over her owner.

“There wasn’t enough time and … just prior to the train making impact Lilly had intentionally gotten between the train and my mother, and had taken the hit.” Her son said.

I just love stories when animals are rescuing people. Hopefully this impacts on how people think about animals not being able to express themselves.

Well, think of what the dog just did. The dog could have just sat there helpless barking at the train but instead it went in there to pull her owner out. It knew there was danger and something could have happened.

Dogs are awesome.
A cat wouldn't do that, you know.
I love my dog.
I would have rather liked the story more if the dog didn't get hurt.
