Loved, if you're feared that means to everyone, family, friends, but also that one kid from elementary school that took your chicken sandwich.
But for sure loved.
"One should wish to be both, but, because it is difficult to unite them in one person, it is much safer to be feared than loved.” Safer is better, too, because you won't have to watch your back as much. People will be less likely to conspire against someone they fear than someone they love."
This is the reason why I would rather be feared than loved if I couldn't be both.
