Phone Carriers Lie?

I was reading CNN about the new "4G" LTE verizon phone, and that got me wondering. I know that all the "4G" networks we have are not real 4G.

I did a bit of research and now I know that all carriers do NOT have 4G, 4g is not implemented in anything yet.

4G is speeds like 100mbs on mobile phone, and 1GBs on wireless LAN devices.

Why are carriers allowed to call their networks "4G" when they are not even close to True 4G.

Do you think they should be able to call their networks something they are not?

I don't care aslong as I got WiFi access or 3G. Also, did you know that Japan or was it China or even Korea idk, got 9G?
