I believe that many supposedly paranormal experiences have natural explanations, but how do you explain the claims that tens of thousands of people make? Are all of them lying or hallucinating?

If the paranormal is real, why can't it ever be confirmed by a controlled experiment? Why do paranormal phenomena only take place in situations which are prone to error?
