Below is a guide detailing the basics of account recovery and should give you some idea of how to go about it:
IF YOU ARE GOING TO LEECH OR RE-POST THIS GIVE CREDIT!
1) Some useful websites:
a) http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm?GetLocation IP locater, (find location via IP)
b) http://services.runescape.com/m=hiscore/hiscores.ws (We want good stats right?)
c) www.Lullar.com (finding websites related to the username/email)
d) www.Pipl.com (same as above)
e) http://www.google.com (your friend in this situation)
f) http://www.samppa.ifastnet.com (Quite well known, chances of good recoveries are slim but you never know! )
2) Looking the Player up:
What we're looking for is for the account to have none of these stats:
Slayer
Farming
Construction
Hunter
Summoning
Dungeoneering.
why? Because these were all added after Runescape's initial release and none of these stats indicate that an account is either f2p or that they haven't played in a very long time, coupled with the ton of people returning for free trade, this could be pretty helpful.
3) Your inner Sleuth:
Time to Google their username and attempt to find any information. Remember, any information is helpful.
You can find someones information by putting their runescape name followed by runescape into Google.
e.g. bob123 Runescape.
What are you looking for? Forums, websites, things like that where you can view contact details: e-mails, birthdays etc
Some forums worth a visit:
http://www.tip.it.com/forum
http://www.runehq.com/forums/
http://forums.zybez.net/
The chances of gleaning useful info from here is slim considering it's most likely been used already but give it a go.
4) the recovery.
Recovery Q's:
These can be a nuisance, if you are confident you have the answers then go ahead, if you don't simply click none set.
Membership (if any)
This can vary, If you have the approximate creation details e.g January 2001 then set that as the membership date, for method if it's quite close to when rs began put Paypal: 1month recurring.
Previous Passwords:
If you're at a loss take a quick flick through here: http://www.whatsmypass.com/the-top-500-worst-passwords-of-all-time
Alternatively you can just guess based on information you have or the username.
Or ask the person questions in-game (not directly for their passwords lol) just general info e.g your favourite number?
Contact details:
Unless your 100% certain you know these, leave them blank.
New Password:
Self explanatory, Set it to whatever you see fit.
Creation Details:
a)Year and month: go off information gathered, stats, searches. for e.g: April 2001
(if you get denied for creation details resubmit with a different month, if they all get denied do the next year)
b)Internet provider(s):
AOL and ComCast are good for old accounts,
Also, try searching Internet providers + location, e.g Hungary
c) Moving:
Simply put the current month and year and move on to additional info.
d) Additional info
Opinion varies about the usefulness of additional info, in my opinion it's always best to make the most of it.
Cram in anything you think will help you: IP addresses, birthdays, what you were doing when last in game what you were wearing in game. Also give information about where you "moved" to. (optional)
It doesn't hurt to give them a sob story either, :tf: for example:
"Dear Jagex, please help me recover my account, I have Advanced Alzheimers and am prone to forgetfullness, I love runescape as it is my only means of recreation.
God bless" (worked for me lol
)
And lastly, keep a tracker of your recoveries, a simple .txt document will suffice.
PLEASE NOTE: This guide will by no means guarantee you a successful recovery, it will only make it more likely.
Miscellaneous:
Proxies
If you have a location, simply google the location + proxy and use the appropriate ones. e.g Ireland proxies
If there is any info you think should be added please say so.
