Members who are found pasting identical messages in Introductions & Farewells will be warned. I love our enthusiastic members normally when they introduce new members, it's something MF has always done very well and excelled at. But pasting identical messages is not respectful, and it doesn't seem welcoming at all.
/Agreed.
Mix it up and make them feel actually welcome. Posting the same message on one or two threads isn't that big of a deal, but when it's every single user, it gets too crazy / spammish.
No. I encourage welcoming members. Most of the time the welcome messages are the source of keeping members. I love it when there's like 3 pages of our members introducing a member, showing him the rules and asking polite questions.
But it takes the piss like this, and eventually the post count will be removed if this carries on.
Welcoming people with generic messages is like signing up to MySpace and getting Tom as a friend; sure, he's technically your friend, but his presence is meaningless.
/agreed, I hate when people post canned speeches or copy pasted posts (even if they are their own) if they bring no contribution. I agree that each post should be unique in the way that they are not identical and written from scratch
