NVIDIA and AMD are always trying to one-up each other, since they both make video cards and GPUs for laptops. As it happens, the contest between the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti and AMD's Radeon HD 7950 is more tense than anyone realized.

Benchmarks have already established the latter as being superior in frames per second.

What benchmarking programs didn't immediately pick up on was the effect of the higher latency of AMD's card.

The Radeon HD 7950 takes a bit longer to beam generated frames onto displays.

This causes a micro-stutter that a reviewer from The TechReport discovered when doing a side-by-side recording of a scene from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

The recordings were made at 120 FPS and 240 FPS and were played in slow motion.
