I haven't really used AAE, just watched some tutorials on it recently, but I'm guessing you're just motion tracking the flash to the gun right?
 

No, lol. I just put the muzzle flash in, then keyed it on each frame.

I really didn't have to use the motion tracking 'cause I had a tripod.
