Need Xbox Live Help!

I've been using my laptop to connect to xbox live. I just connect the ethernet cable into my laptop and into my xbox and there it is. Now all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore. The xbox says it cannot find my static ip or something like that. I also tried to re-bridge the connections but it'll say you must have two lan connections or something of that sort. Help?

Did you try buying a new cable or testing to see if the port still works. Ports can break over time and cords.
