Just click 'Web' on the right side of the page and put the image link and check the box where it says 'Edit'. Then start the upload and resize it.
Also, you don't need to change the format of it. My signature is a .png file and shows up fine.
 

I use imgur quite often as well. Though I should use ImageKorner.com to help out Philly
 
When i put it in imgur it says it is not supported file type. :/
